How to take the design plan to the next level
From chair rails to window surrounds, shower doors to fireplaces and backsplashes, nothing completes stone work or enhances architectural design like moldings. They not only add an extra dimension to the project but often complete the design and improve the overall decor. Sorting through all of the molding types, sizes and options can be challenging. However, let’s look at the market demands for moldings today.
Bringing a design idea to fruition and beyond often depends on the details. We understand that sometimes moldings are overlooked or cut from the project due to budget restraints. That is quite often detrimental to the overall design.
Architectural and interior design trends vary throughout the United States. However, on the whole, we see cleaner lines and less ornamentation. We are experiencing a higher demand for lighter hues and clean, sleek lines. Of course, it all depends on the taste and style of the homeowner but the design marketplace does influence that homeowner.
Finishes for the moldings are also important in achieving the desired look and currently we are seeing more requests for a honed finish. Some clients still request the polished finish in marble and travertine. We also offer a tumbled finish for a distressed look.
